Modern cars have systems to make your driving safer and more comfortable. We call these ADAS systems. This is an abbreviation for “Advanced Driver Assistance Systems”. We can divide these systems into two categories: safety systems and comfort systems.
With safety systems, for example, think of blind spot sensors or fatigue detection. Examples of comfort systems are adaptive cruise control and park assist.
These driver assistance systems are important for the safety of drivers and passengers, but also for other road users such as cyclists and pedestrians. The ADAS systems work on the basis of software and associated sensors. In order to function properly, it is therefore very important that these parts are correctly aligned.
Now that cars are often packed with these driver assistance systems, a seemingly simple repair often involves a lot more. For example, when repairing a mirror or bumper, systems must always be properly calibrated afterwards.
